Rocca Maggiore is a fortress in Assisi, Umbria, province of Perugia, Italy. It was built around 1173 and it was originally used as a castle where, Frederick Barbarossa’s grandson, Frederick II of Hohenstaufen may have spent his childhood. It is also said to have been the site where some scenes were shot of the 1972 movie “Brother Sun, Sister Moon”.
